Give us 66 days. We’ll give you your life back.

In one study, a new habit took a median of 66 days to form (Lally et al., 2010). We make sure your phone does not break it first.

Greatness is not a secret.

It is not luck or talent. It is small things, done every day, for a long time: a training session, an hour on your business, ten pages before bed.

Whatever you want to be great at, whether that’s a sport, your own business or something else, you probably already know the small things it takes. The hard part is doing them every day, because something else gets your attention first.

That something is your phone. For most of us it is the first thing we reach for in the morning, and we pick it up again and again all day. The apps on it are built to keep you coming back.

Your phone beats willpower. A routine beats your phone.

Greatr turns your habits into one daily routine, in the morning, the evening or both. You choose the apps that distract you most, like Instagram or TikTok, and Greatr keeps them locked until your routine is done. Otto, your guide in the app, takes you through it and counts every day you show up.

For many people it takes about two months before a routine stops taking effort, and then your time and attention are yours again. That is what we mean by your life back.

Not great overnight. Just a little greater every day.

How we work

How we research.

We are not scientists or clinicians, so we lean hard on the people who are. A post starts with a question people really ask, then the studies behind it: the original papers, recent reviews and meta-analyses, and guidance from bodies like the World Health Organization. Before we repeat what a study found, we look at how it was done: who took part, what was measured, how big the effect was, and whether it replicated.

Books give us the language. Studies decide what we claim.

Atomic Habits, Tiny Habits and Deep Work shaped how we think about habits and focus. We try the methods on our own routines, say plainly where the evidence is thin, link every source, and update a post when the research moves. Then we end with the smallest step you can take tomorrow. Read our editorial policy.

So far: 16 articles and 53 sources, each linked from the article that cites it.
